Library Director

The Wadleigh Memorial Library, located in the southern New Hampshire town of Milford, is currently seeking a Library Director to lead and manage the library and its talented, professional staff.

Milford, NH has a diverse population of approximately 16,000 people, yet maintains a "small town" feel with many cultural and recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. The Library is an integral part of the community, in part because our dedicated staff consistently provides materials and programming for all ages, outreach to local organizations and schools, and general support to our patrons and surrounding communities with the users' priorities in mind. Beyond these services, the Wadleigh Memorial Library offers expanded access to materials through membership in the GMILCS consortium.

The Library Director reports to and works in close cooperation with the elected Board of Trustees. The Director is primarily responsible for the management and operation of all areas of service provided by the Library and serves as an advisor to the Board. Furthermore, the Director actively participates in policy and budget development, goal setting, planning and evaluations.

Our ideal candidate is committed to creating a positive, patron-oriented environment through exceptional customer service that prioritizes warmth, kindness, and respect for all. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with stakeholders such as staff, Trustees, and other town department heads is essential for our candidate to advance the library's mission and goals. Additionally, our ideal candidate has an excellent understanding of professional library policies, practices, technology, and trends, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.
